Joe Z., known around the gym as “Joe CrossFit”, has been doing CrossFit for almost five years.  He earned his L1 in October 2016 and shortly thereafter

has been coaching most of our early morning classes.  Joe’s girlfriend, Brigid, started before him, while he was doing a lot of conditioning workouts

at a conventional gym.  Brigid would come home and mention things like tire flips, rope climbs, 100 pull ups and Olympic lifts.  His interest and curiosity was

spiked from that moment on.

Q & A with Coach Joe Z.

What is your favorite WOD and lift?

My favorite WOD would have to be the Hero WOD “White”.  Check it out!  My favorite lift is the Snatch.

What are you most passionate about, professionally?

While coaching, my main focus is safety and preventing injuries through proper form & technique and scaling movements/loads/rep schemes.

I like to keep things fun so everyone is having a good time and staying healthy.

What is your favorite recovery food?

Overnight oats, protein powder, almond milk and fruit.\

What is your least favorite workout?

It was an EMOM (Every Minute on the Minute) of 30 Kettlebell Swings.  For every round that you aren’t able to finish the 30 swings,

you got a 10 burpee penalty after.  I think I got through the first few rounds, but it was brutal.  AND I remember one of the Open WODs from either

2016 or 2017: 21-18-15… of thrusters and bar facing burpees.

What are you most passionate about, personally?

Animals!  I have a rescue dog and two cats.

Little known fact about Joe Z.:

I cannot stand still so I have a lot of hobbies, like fishing.   I am always doing something
