Do you find your core and hip flexors give out while doing high volume toes to bar or kipping knee raises?
If so, here are a few tips that I found to really help.
- The kip – It’s easy to think that this starts with the legs, but it actually starts with the shoulders. Think about keeping your arms nice and long and initiating the kip by engaging the shoulders, bringing your shoulders and chest in front of the rig and then swinging our hips to bring them back behind the rig.
- Engaging our lats – This is done by pushing down on the rig instead of pulling up. Doing this allows us to close the gap between our feet and the bar. Making things much easier.
- Relaxing our legs – While we are bringing our legs back down to set up for our next rep, relax our legs and let them swing down and back behind our shoulders in order to give our core and hip flexors a break before kicking back up for our next rep.
