What Motivates You?

What motivates you?

For me, it’s always changing, and I think that’s the norm.
When I was 15, it was a phone call with my friend sitting in my parent’s room. He told me he just bench pressed 200 pounds. The next day was my first day in a gym ever. I wanted to bench press 200 pounds!

Right now my motivation is simply to train 3 or 4 times a week, to maintain my level of fitness. No more, no less. Working out makes me feel good, and that’s enough for me right now.

Fitness is an integral part of my life, and CrossFit allows me to kind of take it whichever direction I want to. If I want to get aggressive with my goals again (I know myself, and I know I will!) then I’ll be ready to do that.

It wasn’t always like this for me though. I was an overweight kid and it was kind of tough growing up in this neighborhood like that. I endured my fair share of bullying when I was a kid. Finding a friend to lift weights with and empowering myself through hard work in the gym changed that for me though.

Find what motivates you now and USE it! Especially if you’re having trouble starting. An inch forward and up is STILL forward and up!
