When I lift weights, especially before a particularly heavy lift,  I’ll say “strong”. It may seem hokey, but I only want strong in my mind. Every other thought has to go. I will never say “heavy” or “this feels heavy” before the lift, EVER.

 

This is what’s called an affirmation, and it works!  Make sure what you’re telling yourself is benefitting you. The internal talk you have with yourself matters.

 

You can try it right now. Pick something you’re trying to improve in your life and give it a little positive thought. You don’t have to tell anyone else about, you can say it in your mind, or write it down. If you want to tell someone about it though, go ahead and reply to this email with it.

 

Practicing positivity is never a futile effort, no matter where you’re currently at.
