So I’ve used myself as a guinea pig for the last 6 weeks or so for the paleo diet. I can just plain say that it works. I am leaner than I have been in years, performance is good even considering some other detrimental lifestyle stuff going on (newborn baby= no sleep. enough said), and (when I can actually string a few hours of sleep together) I just generally feel good.
Basically I have found the paleo diet to be one of the easiest diets I’ve ever followed and I have been down quite a few roads when it comes to dieting.
Please feel free to learn more about it for yourselves if you want. I would however reccomend just jumping into it and learning as you go.
Here is a great getting started manual and general faq’s ont the paleo diet: Paleo FAQ
I have found Robb Wolf’s information to be stellar and would highly reccomend buying his book and listening to his podcast
Having done a paleo month long challenge in September, I also had great results with the paleo diet. I ate in zone proportions and leaned out to levels of fat at or below when I first started the zone diet w/ strict adherence to the fat proportions. Now I double or triple my fat intake w/ zone proportions.
Although, a relatively easy diet to follow, you really have to be committed to cooking and cooking in bulk. Always have extra food on hand that is easy and convenient. I continued eating protein shakes and sweet potatoes post-WOD. Feel free to get a hold of me as well if you have any questions about the diet.
I still try to eat Paleo but I certainly have been cheating a lot recently… Look into Mark Sisson’s Primal BluePrint Cookbook for great meal ideas. And check out his blog called Mark’s Daily Apple (http://www.marksdailyapple.com/). He posts a lot of great recipes there.
Good Luck for those of you that try it!
