It’s been said that you become the average of the five people you spend the most time with.
Seth Godin says, “One of the most powerful of our survival mechanisms is to be part of a tribe, to contribute to (and take from) a group of like-minded people. We are drawn to leaders and to their ideas, and we can’t resist the rush of belonging and the thrill of the new.”
We live in an incredible time where you have endless fitness options around you. There is Beachbody and other on-demand programs with endless class options and flexible scheduling. Peloton has dialed up the home fitness model with live video classes. There are the home gyms with remote programming. And there are big box gyms in every neighborhood.
Smaller gyms, like ours, have limited members and can control who’s coming into our facility. We offer something really special – a place to find “your people”. We are a community of hard working, goal-oriented neighbors who love to have fun and cheer each other on. We are gritty, hard working, and goal oriented.
And we are looking for individuals who value the culture of support and camaraderie that we are fostering here.
There’s a difference when you’re at CrossFit Renaissance in person with a group and a coach. The buzz of energy. The sounds of controlled chaos. Your friends pushed you when you thought you couldn’t run faster or couldn’t do another rep. But then you did. Everyone’s face when they read the workout for the first time, and the smiles and the high fives when it is over.
The world outside is unpredictable, and we often move through our days with our heads down, just trying to get our stuff done. But here, in this one hour a day, you get the power of that tribe of people pulling for you to succeed.
There’s something incredibly special about a group of people that suffer and sweat together.
Tribes of all kinds are important because:
- Life will have its difficult times. You will fail. You will make mistakes. You’ll want the support of a tribe.
- There will be things that you don’t want to do (but you need to do). You’re going to need people to believe in you more than you believe in yourself at those moments.
- There are people that care about what you have to say. You need to find them.
