Tony has been training with us for over 7 years. During that time, he’s lost about 50 pounds. He is like clockwork with his personal training sessions, 3x week, Monday Tuesday and Thursday at 4 pm.
The missing component over the years for Tony has been his nutrition. He has had the diagnosis of Diabetes for about 15 years. Here’s the deal, you really can’t out train a poor diet. There are some metrics we can get hold of with exercise. We have gotten blood pressure and resting heart rate down, lean body mass up, cardiovascular capacity up, body fat down and of course the overall weight down. But when it comes to blood sugars, well that is almost all diet!
About 4 months ago, Tony’s doc made a suggestion to up one of his medication’s dosage. Tony asked for a few months to figure it out on his own. Fast forward 4 months and Tony brought his A1C from 7.9 to 6.8! A1C is basically a snapshot of your blood sugar levels form the last 2-3 months, taken from a blood test. This decrease is a HUGE improvement! When we get to 6.4, he will be out of the official range for diabetes for the first time in 15 years!
And guess what, it did not take a monumental shift either. Small changes over time are what do the trick! Tony’s major trick: don’t eat 2 donuts on the way to and from work and don’t get the choco taco ice cream when filling up the gas tank. Yep, sometimes <most times> the change you need to make is simple, it’s just not easy!
Keep it up Tony!

I have seen him put in so much work at the gym. I’m so happy for him. He is a fine person and deserves the best of health.
Thanks Rodney! Hope you’re doing great!
